By 1881 Read had moved to Ramsey St Marys and was boarding with the Elderkins:
In 1882 he married Emily Corney. Emily was from Ramsey St Marys. In 1891 Read and Emily are recorded as living at Middle Level Drove, Ramsey St Marys with their three young daughters and a boarder. Read was a farm labourer.
By 1901 Read had two more daughters and was still living in Ramsey St Mary: Mary Ann
Kate - married George Edis Butler in 1902. They emigrated to Australia
in 1907 but came back a few years later. Emily died in 1922. Read then married Ruth Barnes.
1901 census for Ramsey St Mary Further Research: According to information obtained from Moya (Kalgoorlie, Australia) the Butler and Taylor families were nominated to go to Australia by J Corney. Who was J Corney? Assuming he was a relative on Emily Corney's side. Was he living in Australia at the time? There is a George Corney and a Gladys Corney on the Coolgardie State School register. |
